President Message
Dear SCSMA Members:
As I start the new year as SCSMA President, I want to thank all of you for all the hard work you do every day for our patients and for each other. Medical Assisting is a rewarding career, and you should be proud to call yourself a Medical Assistant. If you are not a member of AAMA, we encourage you to do so as it is rewarding to be a member. First, you will be a member of a tri-level organization that includes a local Chapter (if there is one in your area), the State Society (SCSMA), and the national organization (AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistants). Members receive discounts on education sessions, conferences, discount programs, and even life insurance. Membership also includes legal assistance in problems that may arise regarding our right to practice. I have many friends from all over the country due to being a member of AAMA. I know if I have any questions regarding medical assisting, leadership, or just want some personal advice, I can call any of these friends and they will be glad to help.
The SCSMA has two workshops coming up in August and in January and the State Conference in March, please check the website for the exact dates. During the workshops and conference, there are CEU sessions as well as SCSMA Board Meetings. We encourage you to please attend and come join us.
Please reach out to me should you have any questions or if you have any concerns about anything regarding the SCSMA. I look forward to seeing all of you soon!
Patty
