All students currently enrolled in a SC CAAHEP Accredited Program may apply for the SCSMA Scholarship. If you are interested in applying, please click the link and print off the instructions and application form. The scholarship recipient will be announced at the SCSMA State Conference.
This $ 250.00 scholarship was established in honor of the Certified Medical Assistants of South Carolina: to assist medical assisting students needing financial support to acquire skills and become eligible to take the AAMA certification exam to fulfill their dream of becoming a Certified Medical Assistant.
Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in a CAAHEP accredited Medical Assisting program in South Carolina.
• Must be enrolled in medical assisting professional courses in a full-time status or nearing completion of graduation requirements..
• Must be a student member of the AAMA.
• Must have a minimum medical assisting curriculum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Application:
• Submit a SCSMA Scholarship application with 2 letters of recommendation from individuals other than family members. A faculty member or administrator from the applicants school must submit one of the required letters.
• Submit completed application by deadline.
****Prior recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to reapply****
Each year at the SCSMA Annual Conference, a scholarship is given in memory of Susan Lollis, CMA (AAMA) and Cathy Leming’s Mother, Daisy.
This cash scholarship is given to one student who is currently enrolled in a medical assisting program and in attendance at the conference.
The scholarship is presented during the Bowl of Knowledge which takes place on the Saturday afternoon of the conference.
